Our Educational Program
The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Our school’s IB programmes foster both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. Students will be encouraged to:
- Think independently and drive their own learning
- Take part in programmes of education that can lead them to some of the highest ranking universities around the world
- Become more culturally aware, through the development of a second language
- Engage with people in an increasingly globalised, rapidly changing world.
The IB is world renowned for its high academic standards, commitment to multiculturalism and focus on developing skills that will prepare students for success in future educational endeavours and life in a global world. To learn more about the IB. visit www.ibo.org
An internationally renowned IB PYP curriculum.
This educational programme encourages the development of globally minded lifelong learners who embrace and strive in a diverse world.
Experienced, well-qualified, international faculty.
All our teachers are highly trained and have years of experience teaching Primary years. We recruit educators from around the globe, because we believe our students can best understand global citizenship when their teachers are themselves globally representative.
A commitment to multilingualism.
While English is our language of instruction, PYP students at OurPlanet School also learn Arabic and French ( PYP4 and above ) as part of the curriculum. We also offer additional language acquisition support to new students with limited English.
Strong arabic programme.
All students learn Arabic but we offer two strands: one for first language Arabic speakers and the other for those who do not have Arabic as their first language. Omani and first language Arabic speaking students (from the 22 Arab speaking nations) will generally be taught Arabic as a first language and social studies. During that time, other students will learn Arabic as a second language. Additionally, all Muslim students will learn Islamic Studies in accordance with the Omani Ministry of Education.
